The Push and Pull of Affection
Friend, I whisper, but the word feels thin,
A flimsy veil for what lies within.
A deeper yearning, a hunger untold,
A feeling stronger, braver, and bold.
Your absence lingers, a heavy weight,
A longing deeper than words can create.
Silence stretches, a cause for alarm,
A worry far greater than friendship's calm.
This bond's not a crush, fleeting and bright,
Nor the comfort of friendship's gentle light.
It's a mystery unnamed, a yearning so true,
A desire that whispers, "Forever with you."
No path unfolds, no answer I see,
But the pull towards you consumes me.
I clutch your picture, a stolen embrace,
This nameless feeling etched on my face.
I try to deny it, push it aside,
But my heart remembers, it can't be denied.
Wrong it may be, in the eyes of some,
But this love's pure echo, I can't overcome.
