My mind rebels, a war it cannot win, "Don't think of you," the battle cry within. But memories linger, a bittersweet refrain, Missing you, a truth that whispers in the rain.

You pushed me back, a wall you built so strong, A whispered "no" that lingered far too long. Yet, yearning whispers, a silent, pleading plea, For a whispered "yes," for you to set me free.

Begging feels wrong, a path I shouldn't tread, But the urge remains, a teardrop left unsaid. Confusion reigns, a puzzle incomplete, Your presence lingers, a phantom, bittersweet.

Love's embers glow, a fire I can't deny, Yearning for your ear, a chance to justify. Blame falls upon me, a burden self-inflicted, For you and us, a story uncompleted.

"It's not you," you claimed, a comfort turned to ash, A hollow phrase that leaves a burning gash. Reason stands at bay, a logic undefined, Wishing for your hand, a way to leave it behind.

Easier, perhaps, a path we didn't take, Than this lingering ache, this emotional heartbreak. So I fight this war, within my fractured soul, Hoping time will mend, and make me finally whole.
